Volunteering

Today was my first day to volunteer at the library.  I was part of the English Language Conversation Group.  It was so much fun!  My group included folks from South Korea, Turkey and Italy.  Other nationalities included Germans, Czech, Iranians, Pakistani, Indian, Mexican, Colombian, Brazilian and Chinese. Today we discussed gestures. I learned a lot of interesting things about their home countries, and I hope they learned a few things about U.S. culture.


The group only meets on Tuesdays so I might look into volunteering somewhere else one day a week.  I'm trying not to obligate myself too much too quickly, as I usually do.  I don't want to over-commit and then burn out.  It does feel very good to have fun with people and be useful.


Tomorrow is a big day for us!  Mike is going to drive me to Ann Arbor for my Lasik evaluation, which will involve dilating my eyes so I can't drive home.  Then, tomorrow night is my Spanish class.  

Two fun days in a row!
